What is a Routine Dental Check-Up?

It’s recommended that you attend a dental check-up once every six months, however, depending on the current state of your oral health, your dentist may wish to see you on a more or less frequent basis.

A regular dental check-up is incredibly important as it allows your dentist to assess your oral health, checking for abnormalities that may otherwise go unnoticed and lead to bigger health problems. Skipping your next dental check-up might not seem like a concern, however, issues can arise quickly. By keeping on top of your appointments, you’ll be saving yourself a significant amount of time and money in the long run.

What Happens During a Dental Check-Up?

For existing patients, your appointment will usually begin with a few questions about your general health and any problems you may have experienced since your last visit. Your dentist will then assess your mouth, gums and teeth, looking for signs of plaque, cavities and decay.

Once the examination is complete, your dentist will talk you through their findings, recommending the appropriate next steps and providing advice and guidance on the best way to keep your mouth clean and healthy moving forward.

Do I Need a Dental Check-Up?

Frequent trips to the dentist are an essential part of keeping your teeth healthy and preventing minor issues from escalating into larger, long-term problems.

If you’ve been putting off scheduling a routine check-up or it slipped your mind, take this as your sign to pick up the phone and reach out to our practice.
