Staina House Dental Practice

Dental Filling Treatment

At Staina House in Garstang, our dentists are pleased to provide our patients with white dental fillings, also known as tooth-coloured or composite fillings.

Made from a variety of materials, most commonly composite resin, our dental fillings can help you achieve a smile that not only looks great but is strong and healthy too. Composite resin is a mixture of resin and glass particles which, when placed correctly, can look just like a natural tooth. For this reason, they are a very effective form of cosmetic dentistry that can improve the health of your teeth.

Cosmetic Dental Fillings

Dental fillings can be placed to treat decayed or broken teeth. Whether we are treating newly diagnosed decay or replacing old amalgam (silver) fillings, our dentists are able to provide a procedure that is suitable for teeth at the front and back of your mouth.

The tooth-coloured materials we use are ‘adhesive’. Unlike some alternative filling materials, our adhesive bonds to the tooth structure. This means our dentists are able to preserve as much of the healthy part of the tooth as possible. The benefit of this to the tooth is that you are less likely to suffer complications or require further treatment following your dental filling.

Dental Inlays and Onlays

In some situations, there may not be enough healthy tooth left to consider direct composite white fillings. If this is the case, it may be possible to place an alternative restoration known as a dental inlay or onlay. These restorations use stronger tooth-coloured materials such as Porcelain or Composite resin. Dental inlays and onlays are made in a laboratory and are placed using similar adhesive techniques to the direct fillings.

Inlays and onlays provide extra strength for teeth considered more fragile or compromised. The dental laboratory we use is highly experienced in creating natural-looking porcelain dental inlays and onlays.
